Steve hosted the GE Oscar Awards at the Scandic Fornebu Hotel, Oslo in early January 2013. The audience was made of employees from around the globe. GE Oil & Gas employs more than 35,000 people worldwide and operates in more than 100 countries.

GE has five Growth Values, which are;

• External Focus
• Inclusiveness
• Expertise
• Imagination
• Clear Thinker

The GE employees were split into teams, and had a very short time to make a film representing one of the Growth Values. The Gala Dinner in the evening was a chance to see the films that were made, and to hand out their very own “Oscar’s”. Following an overture from Norway’s premier musicians – The Hans Orkester, it was over to Steve to introduce the evening, and welcome Eva Kristensen; Managing Director; Scandinavia, Russia & Caspian to say a few words.

Popular Norwegian Vocalist Rein Alexander entertained throughout the evening. The event also had a touch of Hollywood, with its very own George Clooney and Julia Roberts lookalikes to hand out the Oscar’s. At the end of the awards, the guests were invited to participate in the Polonaise, a great tradition in Norway.

In true Oscar style, the guests were invited to take coffee and avec whilst the room was transformed for the after show party. The evening was a massive success.
