The Sunderland Christmas Light Switch on in 2021 was staged in Keel Square in the heart of the city centre. Following the postponement of the event in 2020, a massive crowd turned out to see the live entertainment, which Steve was not only part of, but also hosted.

As well as Santa, there was a school choir, and The Salvation Army brass band and carol singers. Sunderland Mayor, Councillor Harry Trueman, was back this year after being unable to celebrate the event last year. They were also joined by TV legend Su Pollard and the cast of Sunderland Empire’s Snow White and the seven dwarfs.
