True Colours are a Charity that offer performing arts classes to children and young people of all abilities. They provide a caring, warm and welcoming environment, a place of acceptance and inclusion, where their members can grow in confidence without fear of judgement or stigma.

True colours is a charity very close to Steve’s heart. Every Christmas during the pantomime Steve appears in at the Playhouse Whitley Bay, there’s a collection for them at the end of each show. Blue Genie Entertainment, who Steve does pantomime for, is a huge supporter and champion of the charity.

It’s always an evening packed full of entertainment, including aerialists, stilt walkers, vocalists and dancers. Just some of the performers have include; Danceplex, Ignite Entertainment, Charlie’s Angels, Storm Showband and The X Factor’s He Knows, She Knows & Geoff Mull.

In 2023, in recognition of all the hard work put in by the team at True Colours, the North Tyneside Council awarded the company with a building to create a new home for themselves.
The building, the former boys club in Wallsend would need major repairs before it would be habitable. Just as True Colours were starting to strategise around fundraising, BBC’s DIY SOS put out the call, looking for dance companies who needed help refurbishing their buildings……And WON!

Strictly Star Katya Jones, who was part of the DIY SOS project, joined Steve as a patron, and attended the 2024 Ball.

All credit to True Colours Founder and CEO Alisar Taylor and her team for the continued, and growing success of the charity.
